Mary Elizabeth Renew Lybrand Stone BATESBURG - Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Renew Lybrand Stone, 102, of Batesburg, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 after a short illness. Her funeral service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Thursday, May 18, at Milton Shealy Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lisa Isenhower officiating. Visitation will be held before the service at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 P.M Mrs. Stone was born near Trenton in Edgefield County, SC on October 10, 1914 to Arthur Renew and Cora McFee Renew. She was married twice, first to the late Noah Lybrand, and second to the late Harley Stone. She was a friend to all who knew her and was known for her kindness to others. She lived a long and healthy life that was filled with her share of joys as well as hardships, but her pleasant outlook helped her carry life's burdens lightly. She maintained keen control of her mental faculties up through her last days. During her lifetime she was blessed to have 9 children, 30 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 57 great-great grandchildren, and 9 great-great-great grandchildren, and she dearly loved all of them. She is survived by her sons Billy (Donna) Lybrand of Batesburg, James (Phyllis) Lybrand of Aiken, and daughters Shirley Carder of Batesburg, and Mary (Wayne) Strickland of Murrells Inlet. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, and numerous great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren as mentioned above. She was predeceased by her parents, her sons Herbert Lybrand, Noah Lybrand Jr, Arthur "Buck" Lybrand, daughters Bettie Lybrand and Nellie Lybrand Hughes, and her brother Lester Freeman.
