Csm Bost Obituary

Columbia, South Carolina - A funeral service for Command Sgt. Maj. David Loyd Bost Sr., U.S. Army (Ret.), 87, will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, January 15, 2021 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
CSM Bost died Monday, January 11, 2021. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was a son of the late Fred H. and Carrie Poovey Bost. He retired from the U.S. Army following 31 years of service. After retirement, he worked for 15 years with State Housing Finance and Development as a computer supervisor. He was a member of Greystone Baptist Church in Durham, N.C. and attended Woodfield Park Baptist Church in Columbia. After his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with the love of his life, Iris, woodcarving and painting.
Surviving are his daughter, Dell Pinkston (Don) of Apex, N.C.; sons, David Bost Jr. (Phyllis) of Columbia, James Bost (Karen) of Lexington, Richard Bost of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Donald Pinkston, Sean Devereaux (Rachel), Brian Devereaux (Krysten), Carrie Shenberger (Westley), Lindsey Bost, Michaela Bost (Max Keller), Taylor Bost; two great-grandchildren, Lily and Bryson Shenberger. He was predeceased by his wife, Iris Hunt Bost; four sisters; and two brothers.
Memorials may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission, 1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
