Steven H. Bost, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at 8:02 AM at Fort Walton Beach Rehab Center. He was born on March 12, 1953, to Herschel Oral Bost and Ina L Howes in
Lexington, MO. He was his Mom's pride and joy!
Steve was a very energetic person full of life and always made people laugh. His energy was addicting, and he was so much fun to be around. He loved riding motorcycles with friends and cousins, could play drums, clarinet, had a great singing voice, and was a talented sketch artist which he used in the workplace later in life.
His career was spent mostly at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska and at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He was an Electrical Technician with the United States Air Force and in his own words, "….. worked surveillance and interception for 24 years in the Air Force and knew the mindset of those with power!" He had an authorized, top secret high security clearance. Once in a telephone conversation, he talked about entering a huge jet aircraft full of Colonels and high-ranking military personnel. The plane was sitting on the tarmac, ready for takeoff, but had an electronic issue with the plane. Steve remembers walking down the aisle of the aircraft, fixing the problem in a couple of minutes, and walking back out with his head held high that he had made a difference in the aircraft's ability to take off safely.
His Certificate of Retirement reads -

This is to certify that
Master Sergeant Steven H Bost
having served faithfully and honorably was retired from the United States Air Force
on the first day of February 1997
Signed:
Norton A Schwartz, Brigadier General, USAF commander
His greatest time in the military was when he was stationed in Greece and was able to enjoy the local beautiful waters with his sailboat. He was very happy there!
His father, mother, and sister, Vickie J. Ballew, proceeded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, Gloria J. Rose, Camden MO, and Connie J Bost, Blue Springs MO, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. His adopted family, Barry and Dorothy Lane and Sean Carlow of Fort Walton Beach, have been Godsends in his life for over 25 years and are so appreciated.
Steve loved people and spread a lot of joy. His relationship with the Lord was his own, as many of us understand. I am encouraged that we will see him again someday.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
St. Jude's Hospital in Steve's memory!
SALUTE! Yes
In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated and placed at Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date with the United States Air Force making honor presentation. Please keep the Bost Family in your thoughts and prayers.
