RICHARD SEBOLD
GODFREY — Richard Bernard Sebold, 69, died at 11:01 a.m., on Oct.15, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. He fought a three year battle with Idiopathathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Born on April 9, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the oldest son of Audrey (Davidson) and Jack Sebold.
Rick retired from Altonized Community Federal Credit Union, Alton, Illinois, as President in 2013, after 38 years of service. He also worked at Macy's part-time for 17 years, and Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home as a greeter. He graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1966, and later graduated from Lewis and Clark Community College with an Associate's Degree in Business. Rick served in the Army from 1968-1971, during the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Okinawa for 14 months during his tour, and joined the VFW after returning home from service. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church and the Knights of Columbus, where he reached the 4th Degree.
On June 10, 1972, he married the former Dorie Leach, in St. Louis, Missouri. She survives.
Also surviving is a son, Bernie (Jenn) Sebold of Alton, a daughter, Jennifer (Guy) Spangler of Brighton, six grandchildren, Hayden Sebold, Coleton Sebold, Layni Sebold, Drew Spangler, Alex Spangler, and Abby Spangler, one sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Jerry Schmidt of Carrollton, one brother and sister-in-law, David and Karla Sebold, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Allen Sebold.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017, from 4 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, Illinois.
There will be a private burial for the family at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors the following day.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Marquette Catholic High School and 5A's Animal Shelter in Godfrey.

Dearest Dorie and family,
