Thanks Harry for your time and friendship making everyone listening and waking up to you on KQV in Pittsburgh, start their day feeling good and proud to be a part of your audience, with your own style of down home humor, informative traffic and weather conditions and pumping out the hit music of the greatest decade in music history that was uniquely Pittsburgh lore like "High On A Hill" by Scott English.
Thank you for encouraging my radio announcer career by introducing me to Jeff Christy aka Rush, Jim Quinn "your leader pumping out the hits," Chuck Brinkman and Fred Winston.
Your memory and spirit and love of radio will live on forever.

KQV was gifted to have the best morning radio announcer ever in Pittsburgh. Harry reported the morning traffic conditions I phoned into him from The Viking Motel on Banksville Road which my father owned. He invited me to tour the radio station and have breakfast after his show. We became good friends, he introduced me to Miss Student Nurse of Pittsburgh and gave us tickets to see Dione Warwick.
He inspired my interest in radio announcing and I became a natural at it from WDCF my own home station wherever I may live.
Harry, you were simply the Best!
R.I.P.

I have such fond memories of Harry West while growing up in suburban Scranton. I faithfully listened to him every morning on WARM. What a great way to start each day! I attended all of his WARM Dance Parties that he held on a regular basis in Clark’s Summit. It was so disappointing when Harry left WARM for Pittsburgh, but I was thrilled when I attended college in South Central Pennsylvania, and again was able to listen to Harry during his tenure at WSBA in York. A true giant in the golden age of AM radio!

My family and I used to listen to Harry West before going to school and work while living in Pittsburgh. It was great starting our day with his wonderful sense of humor and favorite music. I still remember the jingle. May he rest in peace...

Harry also worked at WSBA radio in York, PA, and I did, too, in the early 70's. I worked the night shift on the FM, and would see him when he came in to do his morning show, and we'd talk a lot. He always cracked me up, and I used to record comedy voices for bits he did on his show. RIP, Harry.

The Harry West Show was the first pleasure of my day so many mornings growing up in Scranton. I was then thrilled to hear you again while attending college in Pittsburgh. I actually got a job at the college radio station as well as an FCC license because of your inspiration. You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sad to hear of Harry's passing. I listened to Harry when he was at KQV in Pittsburgh. I met him many years later for lunch in the early 2000s. He gave me tour of the station he was working at at the time in NEPA and made me a copy of the famous Harry West Show jingle that I posted on my QV tribute web site. He was a great guy and I am proud that we got together.

To the West Family--So sorry to hear of Harry's passing. Many fond memories from my teen years at the DJ dances in Carbondale and other places in Northeast Penna. Also, Warmland at Rocky Glen, then later connecting thru Luzerne County Special Olympic's and several events he helped me organize. RIP, Harry and keep those platters turning in Rock and Roll Heaven.
