Robert John "Jack" McIntosh FORT GRATIOT Robert John "Jack" McIntosh, 85, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at his home in Fort Gratiot. Born in Port Huron, the son of Mary and William McIntosh, he has had residences here throughout his life. He and his wife, Annette, also kept residences in Georgetown, Washington, D.C. and Vero Beach, Florida until recent years. He served as a fighter pilot in the 8th Fighter Command, USAF and flew missions in a Thunderbolt P-47 on D-Day. He was shot down in the Livarot region of France for which he was awarded a Purple Heart. French citizens and resistance officers honored him again 10 years ago. Mr. McIntosh did undergraduate work at Michigan State University and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1948. A prominent local attorney, Robert also practiced law in Washington, D.C. for many years where he represented many national organizations and corporations, including Checker Motors and the World Relief Commission. He served as U.S. Representative, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, and Postmaster in Port Huron. He was also Executive Director, Michigan Department of Commerce and Chairman, Michigan State Public Service Commission. Locally he was co-owner of Marwood Manor and the Port Huron Terminal Company. He was a founding partner in McIntosh, McColl, Carson, & Strickler law firm. A talented athlete in his youth, he was inducted in the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of Port Huron Golf Club and Grand Harbor in Vero Beach. He was a longtime member of Grace Episcopal Church. Mr. McIntosh is survived by his wife of 61 years, Annette (Stuber) McIntosh; his children, Prudence McIntosh and Gene Marcinak of Marine City and Vero Beach, John McIntosh and Katrin Eismann of Weehawken, New Jersey and Fort Gratiot, and Melanie McIntosh of Madison, WI; and grandchildren, Erin (Dave) Harper of San Francisco and Matthew McIntosh Morris of Madison. Jack will always be remembered for his insights, logic, and well-reasoned discussions that he was very fond of having with family and friends. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Smith Family Funeral Home, 1525 Hancock Street. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Lakeside Cemetery.
