Dennis Richard Obituary

Dennis Richard passed away at the age of 79 on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Dennis was born in Basile, Louisiana on May 25, 1940 and joins his parents, Clanny Richard and Laura Bellon Richard in heaven. He was the beloved husband of Connie Wroten Richard for 56 years, hero to daughter Denise Richard Feraci (Gerard), creator of adventures to grandchildren Elizabeth Singletary Stagno (Kyle) and Joseph Singletary. He was a very proud great grandfather to Eleanor Stagno and Oliver Stagno and "favorite Uncle" to many nieces and nephews. Dennis was a very proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the National Guard and the Air Force. He also served as a Deputy and later a Detective for the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Department for many years. He dedicated his life to serving others and helping those less fortunate. He loved working with wood, building bird houses, duck calls and pirogue's, hunting and fishing. He could always be found bringing his grandchildren on "adventures". He loved giving them "true stories" to tell. Nothing ever needed to be embellished when he was around. He will be terribly missed. A Memorial to celebrate his life will be held at ST. AUGUSTINE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2717 Third Street, Basile, Louisiana, on Saturday morning, July 11, 2020 at 10:00.

Dennis was, and will always be, a great friend. My father cherished their friendship very much. Now they will be able to fish together again. Connie and Denise, our prayers are with you and your family. Please let us know if we can do anything.

Dennis worked security at Pearson's Pharmacy when I worked there, along with Lewis Meadows. Became a great friend. I spent many a night at the Sheriff's office. He allowed me to work the radio. May HE who is able draw you close. Steven L. Frazier

Mr. Dennis was a role model, mentor, and very good friend to me and to the other children and teenagers who grew up with us. He gave his time to help us, shared his knowledge with us, and helped us to stay out of trouble and to become law-abiding people. I will keep Mr. Dennis, Mrs. Connie, and Denise, in my prayers.
