He was a founding member of the New Orleans Big Game Fishing Club in the mid-fifties which pioneered big game fishing out of South Pass, focusing national and international attention on Louisiana's gulf fishing. He participated in many Blue Marlin Tournaments and was named Admiral of the Fleet of the Mississippi Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo in 1966.

He is also remembered for his famous Alexandria Pigeon Shoots named "Laissez le bon ton Roulet" "Let the good times roll." His philosophy of life was, "Don't worry, be happy.

To the Ray Whatley Family, Ray and I shared many great times together. He taught me how to play Boray, shoot and call ducks. I think my first duck hunt was with Ricky. My Dad H.K. Beebe is still with us but Alzheimer's will keep him from understanding this event. Sorry I can not be there on Monday but rest assured you are all in our prayers.
May God be with you in this most difficult time.

May his memory live on forever. It's hard to let them go home, but we all have to go at some point. My prayers for you are to be strong for each other, and may the tears soon turn to smiles when you recall the loving or amusing things he did in this life.

My love and prayers to all the family in the sad time. I always looked forward to seeing Ray as he was always so full of life. I spoke to him on the phone several years ago and I guess we said our good byes then. I saw him last at my mama's funeral. They were first cousins. I spoke to Ricky Friday night and let him know that I probably won't be able to make the funeral although I would love to be there. My thoughts will be with you all. May he rest in peace.
