Garrett Russell Bertaut, age 29, passed away on February 8, 2026.

Garrett was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend whose presence brought warmth and light to those around him. His kind heart, sense of humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Al Bertaut, Jr. and Dayna Bertaut; his siblings, Cole Bertaut, Connor Bertaut, Emma Bertaut, and Evan Bertaut; and his grandmother, M'Liss Bertaut. He also leaves behind his cherished aunts and uncles: Billy Bertaut (Yvette), Alison Larriviere (Jerry), Michael Bertaut, and David Boudreaux Sr. (Dona); and his cousins: Ashley Stickman (George), Henry Stickman, Grace Stickman, Kristen Bertaut, Jacob Larriviere, Jarod Larriviere, Jack Larriviere, David Boudreaux Jr., and Lisa Boudreaux, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Garrett was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alvin Bertaut, Sr., and his grandparents, Louise Boudreaux and Dudley Boudreaux.

Garrett graduated from St. Catherine of Siena, Brother Martin High School, and Louisiana State University where he majored in construction management. In addition to his construction management degree, he built up his own successful landscaping business from a young age. He loved being outdoors under the sun, providing his expertise to his clients and making a lasting impact with each person he visited.

He was our hero at the age of 7 years old. By the grace of God, he donated his bone marrow to save his 2-year-old brother's life. We will be eternally grateful to him.

As parents, we could not have asked for a more loving, giving, and patient son. He was always happy, bringing smiles all around to every family visit or social outing. He loved his siblings and epitomized the qualities of having the best big brother for all of them. He taught his younger siblings the art of hard and honest work and the importance of respecting others.

He made friends wherever he went. He was loyal to his family and friends, always willing to help anyone who needed. He accomplished so much in his short time on earth and made such an impact on everyone he touched.

Garrett loved life, from spending time with family and friends to snowboarding, planning vacations, crawfish boils, bachelor trips, and his infamous LSU tailgates for his friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend Garrett's Homegoing Service on Friday, February 13, 2026 for 2PM at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70001. Visitation begins at 11AM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to American Childhood Cancer Organization, www.acco.org in memory of Garrett Bertaut.
