I send my greatest condolences and sorrows to the Devore family. My father, Stephen Freitas speaks very highly of Mrs Devore. My sister and I were blessed with being able to have many interactions with her as a child. Although I don't remember much, I will always remember how she taught me how to fold a paper crane. I'm sitting here now, in my study hall at Stonington High School and staring at one of her paintings that is hanging on the wall. All the memories came rushing back, so I came to look at some of her other masterpieces, and I fell upon this obituary. Although I am over a year late to sign this book, I felt obligated to, as she was a big part of my artistic upbringing. Mrs Devore was truly a blessing. Thank you for everything you have contributed. Rest in peace, angel..

Mrs Devote was my art teacher at stonington high. She always let us explore our talents, present what we felt, and said possibilities were limitless, and art is unrestrictive, meaning whatever we felt is what should come out naturally. She always added humor and let us jam out to whatever music we wanted to in the classes. It was the best final years I had at shs. Rest in peace, crazy lady!

What a powerhouse my cousin was, full of energy, talented, so much fun, a neon smile like her dad's, she loved life and lived it to the fullest.
She adored her children and grandchildren.
She just exuded energy. One of the most positive people I have ever known.
Cousin/sister I will miss you but you are ever in my heart.

Dear DeVore Family,
I am most saddened to hear the news of Sadie. Such a delightfully creative, hardworking, interested, gracious, fun loving friend she was to so many. Her friends and colleagues of the Connecticut Women Artists will greatly miss her attention and appreciation.
Our sympathy and to you all. Sadie and her love of the Arts will be greatly missed.

To the family of Sadie DeVore,
So very sorry to read of Sadie's passing. I worked with Sadie at SHS and so enjoyed her company. She was always so open in her conversations and so interesting with her choice of topics. Having no artistic skill, I found her talent fascinating. I loved watching her walking down the hallway as there was never any doubt she was an artist with paint on her apron and chalk on her fingers. Fond memories.

I send my condolences to the family. The painful feelings that come from a loss can lead some to isolate themselves. It is true that heartbreaking grief can drain one emotionally & physically. That is why now is the time more than ever to accept the comfort that comes from those who care about you. Although it will take time to heal, know that God has the ability to to comfort your hearts and give you strength to cope as you pray to Him. (2 Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 16, 17)

Dearest Sadie, The world is a little less bright and a lot less colorful without you in it. I will miss our impromptu conversations when I would run into you at a Master Gardener event or a trip to Big Y. You were a mentor to my Allison and never missed an opportunity to ask how she was doing and if she was "doing" art. Thank you for all the wonderful memories you provided me and her--you are already missed and will never be forgotten.

DeVore family,
I was so sad to hear of Sadie's passing.
I'm sure I will be the first of many to say that Mrs. DeVore was their favorite art teacher. She helped me discover my immense passion for art that continues to this day.
I will forever keep my memories of art class at SHS with Mrs. DeVore close to my heart.
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
