CLYDE, NC - James Olin Weatherford, Jr., age 77, died at Haywood Regional Medical Center on October 10, 2014. Jim was born in Alameda, California, on July 7, 1937, to the late James Weatherford Sr., and Lucille Holt Marshall. Jim served with honor in the United States Navy. He enjoyed traveling, gardening and working with his chickens and goats. Jim will be remembered most for the love that he had for his family.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Giles of San Diego, California.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Anne; four sons, James III (Cyndi) of Davie, Florida, Todd (Tracey) of Thomaston, Georgia, Carl of Roswell, Georgia , and David (Julie) of Thomaston, Georgia; two daughters, Jill Knight (Tim) of Thomaston, Georgia, and Julie Kilby (Greg) of Thomaston, Georgia; a brother, Tom Weatherford (Ann) of The Rock, Georgia; 15 grandchildren; and 5 nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Christopher Riehl officiating. Burial followed at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family would like to offer a word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff in the ICU at Haywood Regional Medical Center for their excellent care and compassion during Jim's illness.
