I only met Muriel about 10 years ago while working at CR. Even so, she always recognized me when I'd see her at the Home Tours! She knew so many people and I was very proud that she included me in her vast number of friends. It was an honor to know her, and I will miss her very much. She's one of the grand persons of the ages...

Muriel was my supervisor at College of the Redwoods from 1980 to 1982. She was a wonderful person and a great supporter of the Arts. She had a wonderful smile and I will always remember her juggling 5 jobs at once. She was a very kind person and I will always think of her fondly and miss her.Judy Bardella Bailey

My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night,
But ah, my foes, and oh my friends,
It gives a lovely light!

Some people only bring light. Muriel was certainly one of them. We are all richer for having met her.

Your Mother was very special. When our Mother, Jan, was suffering from a debilitating illness your Mom would often arrive with a special arrangement or other treat to cheer Mom up.
She was also very kind to me, including me in events and always saying hello.
I will remember her well.

Dear Sam and all of the Dinsmore family.
I so appreciate you lettting me know of Muriel's passing.
She will be missed by so many people.
Muriel was probably the first person I met when Cedric and I and our 3 sons arrived in Eureka. She was so welcoming and such a lifesaver for
Cedric and for me in those early days. Cedric appreciated and depended on her for "all things social" and she shepherded me in so many ways.
She was a special person and a wonderful friend and supporter for both of us. I think of her fondly as the welcoming face of Eureka. She is greatly missed and will be remembered by all of the Sampson family as a guiding light for our years in Humboldt County.

Dear Dinsmore Family:
I was startled that Muriel gave a Petaluma address in her remarks for my old art teacher a week ago. But i am glad to see she had a daughter in Petaluma.
Muriel and I may have gotten to know each other in the 19060's, when we were active in DeMolay and Job's Daughters.
She was great help to Eureka and Humboldt Bay area and it will be hard for anyone to replace her.
I'm sure many people liked her and even more appreciated her work for the community. God bless her.

To Muriel's Family- There are truly no words to describe what a Classy Lady she was in all ways. Whenever I had a problem that I was struggling with my thought was "how would Muriel handle this?" I was so proud to be friends these many years.

Muriel was an amazing woman and a big influence in my life. She set an example with her kindness, generosity, encouragement and curiosity. I grew up in Fortuna next door to the Dinsmore family and Muriel made sure I was always included and treated me like one of her own children. I will always carry her memory with a smile on my face. Much love to Sam, Jeff, Tamra & Scot.

To Muriel's family, my husband and I often visited with Muriel in Petaluma as we traveled between SF and Eureka. She always thanked us for taking the time to see her if for only 30 minutes or so. We revisited our times together at CR, I was one of her student assistants. Our latest recent visit will be fondly remembered. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

To Muriel's Family, I was so sorry to read of Muriel's passing. She was a dear lady I met when I was her hairdresser some years ago. I knew she had a lot of irons in the fire but I had no idea how many. For someone that busy her manner was always calm. Fortunately, I saw her some of the times she came up after moving, she never changed. I'm very sorry that I won't be able to attend her memorial as I will be helping another dear lady celebrate her 100th birthday on that day and time. My heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to you all.

Dear Tamara, Sam, Jeff, & Scot:
Linda and I were deeply saddened to learn of your mother Muriel's passing. Always a 'community treasure', her legacy, uniqueness, and contributions to so many of our local businesses and community groups and organizations will live on in the hearts and minds of many of us throughout Humboldt County. We have missed Muriel's regular presence these past few years and will forever appreciate what she has given to our community, a community which she loved and of which she was such a vital part. May she rest in peace.
Please accept our deepest and most sincere sympathy. You will remain in out thoughts and prayers at this time of loss.
Sincerely,
Louis & Linda Bucher
