Ralph Siggins bravely and peacefully left this earth to enter into eternity on September 25, 2008. During his last hours, he was lovingly surrounded by adoring friends and family. These moments were filled with love, strength, courage, and dignity- reflecting the way he had always lived his life.
Ralph was born March 29, 1957. He was raised in Eureka, California, and attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School, Class of 1975. At the early age of 9, he started helping his father in his Jewelry store and has been working with jewelry ever since. He continued his education, earning a degree in accounting at Heald’s Business College in Hayward, California.
Ralph owned and ran Siggins Jewelry Center for over 20 years. His commitment to quality and honest service to the community and its patrons assured him amiable favor and deep respect from all who crossed his path. The Jewelry Store was always filled with good times, good friends, and precious memories. He treated his customers and friends with kindness, always showing a genuine interest and concern for them and their lives. He was an amazing listener and friend to all. He was known for doing anything for anyone, dropping or changing plans to help a friend out anytime he could. Ralph’s friends were his family, and his family were his friends.
Ralph was preceded in death by: father, Curtis Siggins. He is survived by: mother, Gertrude Siggins; daughter, Raeanne Siggins Block; sisters, Janis Siggins and Susan Pollock; brothers, Wayne and Darrell Siggins; nephews, Guthrie and Christopher-Ray; aunt, Evelyn Massaro; son-in-law, Benjamin Block; dear friends, Erin McBride, Jim Berning, Glenda Wheat, and many others-too numerous to count.
Ralph’s life was a shining example to us all. He strove to love people deeply and always gave generously without hesitation. His spirit lives on in those who were touched by his life and kindness. He was greatly loved and appreciated throughout his life and will be greatly missed throughout the rest of ours.
A Celebration Service to honor his beautiful life and commemorate his legacy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5, at the Elk’s Lodge, 445 Herrick Avenue, Eureka, California. All who were touched by his life are welcome to attend and celebrate his memory.

I wasn't one who knew Ralph all my life, but only in recent years after he designed a very special slide for me. I came to know him through our many discussions of his health & trips to the Mayo Clinic. I was very saddened to hear of his untimely passing.

Ralph, you will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your Family. I would come in to Wiesfields (Old Eureka Mall) with my Grandma Sylvia Wright, I got my very first ring from you, when I was 8 years old, and will be 40 this coming year, and still have that ring today. I know my Grandma will be happy to see you. Love, jennifer

It is with great sadness that my wife and I learned of Ralph's passing. He was truly a merchant that understood what great customer service was all about. He personalized everything and was so easy and comfortable to talk to. His sense of humor was incredible. Earlier in September, we had visited his store to pick up an item that was sitting there for months. We immediately got into a friendly chat about storage fees, etc. Ralph was always like that. It was really a pleasure going into his store and just chatting with him. No matter how busy Ralph was, he would always take time to converse with you. We have truly lost a great gentleman. It's always the ones that have great humanity that the Lord takes first. Ralph left this world too soon, but we're sure that God has a place all set aside for him in his Kingdom. We will miss you Ralph.

I think the first time I walked into Siggins Jewelery Store was about twenty years ago, probably needing a battery for my watch. I was so impressed by the attention and helpfulness of Ralph, and so enjoyed his kind and pleasant manner that I never shopped at a diferrent jewelery store since then.
Shopping at the store was not an ordinary, mundane transaction, it was an excuse to spend a few minutes with Ralph, who always left you feeling better when you departed than when you entered the store. I was saddened to learn of Ralph's death. The world would be a better place if it had more Ralphs in it. I've had the opportunity to meet and know many distinguished public figures known for their notable achievements. Ralph's contribution was maybe more subtle, but certainly no less valuable. Thanks Ralph for showing us what is truly important in life.

Our family's deepest sympathy to all who were fortunate enough to have their lives touched by Ralph. I have been fortunate enough to have known Ralph since childhood. He has always had a kindness for all and an inner strength which carried him through more adversity than anyone should have to deal with. He IS a true inspiration. In my mind, heart and prayers...I will miss you "Rock" Siggins!

I will greatly miss Ralph. Never a complaint, and always a smile or a joke. I wish there were more like him. We would all be better off. It is very difficult to go through life and not have a negative thing to say about someone at least once. Ralph is one of those people with whom I have never heard a negative thought, word or comment about. You have a clean slate with me my friend. I'm sure I'm not the only one to think so.

What a sad, sad day when Ralph left the living. Humanity has lost one of the good ones. Hopefully, there is some truth to the belief we never completely leave but our soul and spirit are reincarnated into another living entity. This world needs all the Ralph Siggins' it can get!
Best of journeys, my friend.

Ralph was a warm. helpful person with a ready smile. He was quiet, but not really...I will miss our talks. He helped me to understand his illness as a nurse and was never a complainer, but accepted each day as it came , it seemed to me.
He will be missed.

The entire Warmuth family is heart broken at Ralph's passing. Elaine and I were customers of Hendersen Center Jewelry when Curt Siggins and Keith Moore owned it and it was located near the Post Office and well prior to Ralph assuming the ownership from his Dad. Our daughter Carrie worked with Ralph at Weisfields in 1979 when the store was in the Eureka Mall and Carrie was in High School.
We are going to miss Ralph and his bright smile...

I was shocked and saddened when hearing of dear Ralph's passing.
As was so eloquently written in this newspaper, Ralph's depth of loyalty and love is unsurpassed.
When I began work in the store several years ago, he and Janis opened their arms of friendship to embrace me. Not to mention their enduring patience while trying to teach me how to remove the back of a watch to change a battery!
I am forever grateful to have been a small part of the Jewelry Center family and will carry the memory of this gentle man close to my heart.

To the Family of Ralph Siggins. We are so sorry to hear of your loss, Ralph was such a great person. It seems like just yesterday that Ralph was helping us to pick out a wedding ring set to go with my grandmothers diamond. His father Curtis built the ring for us and Ralph has taken the very best care of it for the last 30 years. What will we do without you?

Ralph Siggins, you will be missed. When I first arrived in Eureka in 1989 I needed my grandmother's ring repaired. You were so very kind to me, allowed me to make payments, and visit the ring while doing so. This memory is so precious because every time I look at the wonderful job you did in restoring my grandmother's ring, I think of you and your kindness and your always smiling face. With all of life's cruelties all around, it was so important to me to have the sweetness of character that you showed me and I was merely a customer and newcomer to this area. You made me welcome here and so I have stayed all these years and come to you with my jewelry woes knowing your could always fix it.
Heaven will be the better for your entering there. What a special person you are.

I worked for Ralph for years off and on at the old Weisfield's Jewelers at the Eureka Mall. Ralph was a terrific boss and a good friend. I'll never forget the time he decided he could wallpaper the store himself...What a guy!
My prayers and best wishes are with his family.

I am saddened to hear that I have lost a classmate at such a young age. Eight years ago I was a guest in Ralph's beautiful home as he hosted our 25th class reunion. We all had a wonderful time and it was so great to see Ralph in such good spirits and so proud of his successful life. I will never forget how much fun Ralph had at our 20th class reunion out on the dance floor. I wish him a very peaceful journey to the gates of heaven. I will never forget you Ralph.
