I never met Carolyn in person. We were both members of an on-line community of Joan Crawford fans, and I met her through that group many years ago. Carolyn was an avid and knowledgeable fan of Classic Movies. One of her favorite movie stars was the fabulous Kay Francis. Carolyn sent me several copies of Kay Francis movies I wanted to see. Carolyn also had in her collection every movie directed by Mitchell Leisen, one of her favorite film directors. I hadn't communicated with Carolyn since last year. Because I've been watching many Kay Francis movies lately, I thought of Carolyn. I sent her an email the other day to tell her about my Kay Francis Film Festival. When I didn't get a response, I decided to Google her name, and that's how I found her Obituary. I knew that Carolyn had been fighting cancer, but I never wanted to think that one day this world wouldn't have Carolyn in it. I'm so sorry to hear about her passing. She was a delightful person. The last message I got from her was late in 2016. She sent me images of a painting she'd done plein air on an outing with a friend named Brandon, and wrote about watching an Olivia de Havilland movie with her friend Annabelle. Rest in peace, Carolyn. I imagine you're up in Heaven having a fabulous time with Marie Dressler!

I was happy and honored to have known Carolyn these past 20 years or so on her visits to Ventura and Santa Barbara and mine to Eureka. No visit to Eureka was complete without some lunches and dinners with Carolyn. Her smile and laughter were hallmarks. She indeed was what she named her beloved dog, Happy. She was a real trooper to the very end. Happy Trails my Friend.

A dear sweet friend that will be missed greatly. Carolyn had a heart of gold and a will to live life the best no matter what was put in her way. In her years on this earth she has shown kindness and goodwill to all and brought joy and laughter to many. One does not realize what one has until someone is taken from them. Carolyn would want all her friends to continue life with a smile and know that she is with each of us each time she is thought of.
