William Goens Jr. Obituary
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Valhalla Funeral Home, Huntsville, with David Wimpee officiating. Burial will be in Vahalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin two hours before the service at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 7, 1930, in Albertville and graduated from Lincoln School. He was a veteran of the Korean War and member of American Legion Post 237.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William F. Goens Sr. and Lillian Goens, and a brother, Cornel Goens.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Goens, Huntsville; three sons, Robert Goens, Huntsville, Steve Goens (Kaye), Decatur, Mike Goens (Sharon), Florence; five grandchildren, Kristina Goens Holmes (Jeff), Karen Goens Griffin (John), Lance Hyche (Melissa), Michelle Davy (Sean), Matthew Anderson (Pamela); seven great-grandchildren, Tristan Holmes, Brett Holmes, Elizabeth Griffin, Jackson Hyche, Cameron Grace Hyche, Creel Richardson, Cole Richardson; four brothers, Ernest Goens Sr. (Joann), Nashville, Gene Goens, Loveland, Colo., Thomas Goens (Pat), Arab, and Ronnie Goens (Pati), Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Linda Goens Bonner (Gene), Arab; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 540 Hughes Road, Madison, AL 35758.

Katie and I are very sorry for your loss. I know Mr. Goens has been ill for a long time. He was one of our countries many heroes having fought for our freedom during the Korean War. I know your loss is Heavens gain and our thoughts and prayers go to the entire family.
