Matthew Giorgio Obituary

Matthew Carl Giorgio, age 72 of Conshohocken, passed away peacefully early Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at home with his loving family at his side. Loving husband of 47 years of Carol (Pondo) Giorgio. He was born in Conshohocken on August 23, 1939, a son of the late Mary (Malantonio) and Nicholas Giorgio. He was a member of SS. Sosmas & Damian RC Church of Conshohocken. Matthew worked as a Steel Worker and retired from Alan Wood Steel, then went into Real Estate. He was a dedicated youth football coach, and coached with Conshohocken Golden Bears, Archbishop Kennedy High School, Plymouth Spartans, and also with Conshohocken Steelers Professional Football team. He was also very active volunteer with F.A.D. football aginst drugs program. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and going to the beach. Matthew was an Army Veteran, where he received Parachutist Badge, Sharpshooter Award and Good Conduct Medal. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Christine (Vincent) Antononi of Broomall; sons, Matthew C. (Denise) Giorgi of Conshohocken, and Brandon G. Giorgio of Conshohocken; brothers, Vincent Giorgio of Collegeville, Nate Giorgio of Blue Bell, and Nicholas Giorgio of Florida; seven grandchildren: Vincent, Victoria, Nicholas, Anthony, Matthew, Justina, and Peter. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena DeSanto and Christine Ciavarelli. His Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 28 at 7:30 pm from Moore & Snear Funeral home, 300 Fayette Street, Conshohocken with Fr. Gasper A. Genuardi, Pastor of SS Cosmas & Damian RC Church. Friends may call Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in Matthew's memory to American Heart Association, 1 Penn Center At Suburban Station, 1617 JFK Blvd, Ste 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
