William Becker Obituary

William H. Becker, a 22 year veteran of the US. Navy, died on June 17th after a brief illness at the age of 90. Born in Fishtown, North Philadelphia, Bill was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in WW2 and Korea. “Everyday’s a holiday and every meal’s a banquet,“ was Bill’s catch-phrase and that best describes his charmed life. He was handsome and athletic, played in the Naval Baseball League while in Hawaii and travelled around the globe. He loved bowling, country music and always enjoyed a good laugh. In 1951, Bill married Catherine Anne “Kate” Foehl and had 3 children. After retiring from the Navy, Bill started his own successful painting and paper-hanging company. He was a founding member of the St. Titus Athletic Club, the first recipient of their Man of The Year Award, organized numerous social events and parish fundraisers. Bill and Kate settled in Boynton Beach, Fl. where they celebrated their 67th anniversary shortly before they both died within months of each other. Bill is survived by his 2 youngest children, Joanne Youmans and David Becker; grandchildren Daniel Dietrich, Brandon Becker, Lilly Becker; and great grandchildren Aaliyah, Malik and Layla Becker. A memorial service for Bill and Kate will be held at St. Titus Church, Jan. 17th, 11am.
