Joseph Kress Obituary
Born in Hazleton, he was a son of the late Harry A. "Bud" Kress and Matilda Tempest Kress. The greater part of his life he resided in West Hazleton.
Buddy was a graduate of West Hazleton High School, Class of 1955. He worked in the family business with his father, "Bud," brother, "Sonny," and his son, Joseph, at Kress Auto Recyclers and later known as Harry's. In 1991, he was co-founder of Harry's-U-Pull-It.
Buddy was a member of Parts, ARA, PIADA, ISRI and the Pulaski Club.
He was an avid supporter of Helping Hands, The American Cancer Society and very generous to many organizations in the community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughters, Mary Jo Kress and Tempest "Tamii" Kress; infant son, Louis Kress; brother, Harry "Sonny" Kress; a sister, Jean Kress.
Buddy is survived by his loving family, his son, Joseph H. Kress and his wife, Tracy, Sugarloaf; daughters, Karlee Blaze Kress, West Hazleton, and Stormie Matilda Kress, West Hazleton; nephew, Harry J. Kress, Sugarloaf; five grandchildren, Joey Zane Kress, Harrison Louis Kress, Cameron Joseph Kress, Juliana Salio and Jason Salio.
Buddy will always be remembered as "living life on his own terms," a loyal friend, and a loving father, grandfather and uncle.
Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Joseph B. Conahan Funeral Home Inc., 532 N. Vine St., Hazleton. The Rev. Michael Piccola will preside at the service. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, West Hazleton. Relatives and friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday morning at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands, 301 Siller Drive, Hazleton, PA 18201, American Cancer Society, 712 S. Keyser Ave., Taylor, PA 18517, or a charity of your choice. Our deepest sympathy to all of you and yours. I will cherish the fond memories we created down through the years. Those that come to mind are the days we spent of our youth down at the yard having good times playing and working together.
