William Skurkis Obituary

William "Bill" B. Skurkis, 63, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, in Colebrook, Conn. He was the husband of Teresa (Lucashensky) Skurkis. Bill was born January 2, 1947, in Wilkes-Barre, a son of the late William and Clementine (Kizis) Skurkis. He was a 1970 graduate of King's College, earning a bachelor's degree in computer programming. Bill retired from Aetna Life Insurance Co. after 20 years of service. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Besides his wife Teresa of 15 years, he leaves his daughter, Sheri Skurkis and her husband, Rob, of Woodbury, Conn.; his son, Jeffrey Skurkis and his wife, Christine, of West Hartford, Conn.; his stepdaughter, Christine Brooks, of Wolcott, Conn.; his stepson, Nicholas Capozzi of Wolcott; his brother, Ronald Skurkis, of Newport News, Va.; his sisters, Roberta Pehr of Timonium, Md., and Dorothy Andes, of Dallas; as well as his grandchildren, Taylor and Sean Brooks, Ava and Hayden Skurkis; and his former wife, Carol A. Skurkis, of Farmington, Conn. A gathering will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Woodtick Memorial, 420 Woodtick Rd., Wolcott, Conn. Burial will take place in Pennsylvania at the family's convenience. Memorial gifts may be made to Special Olympics of Connecticut, 2666 State St., Ste. 1, Hamden, CT 06517-2232.
