I had occasion to meet Jesse (Jack) at the 2019 reunion of the 96th Bomb Group Association in St. Louis. I was attending this reunion to honor a friend, Glenn Harrison. I was especially pleased to meet Jack and his son because I learned that we shared a mutual friend in Cliff Schrader, a former chemistry teacher at Dover High School. ( I am a retired chemistry teacher in St. Louis who knew Cliff in professional circles.). I throughly enjoyed my informal conversation with Jack and his son Gary. My most vivid memory, though, was listening to Jack and Glenn each speak about their personal experiences in WW II to a rapt audience of admirers. You could have heard a pin drop as they humbly shared their roles in being part of the "Greatest Generation". Even though my encounter with Jack was relatively brief, I still remember it with much fondness and admiration. My deepest condolences to his family.

So proud of Jack as a war veteran, teacher, and business owner. He encouraged me to join the American Legion and get involved. I only new of him initially as a member of St Joseph Church where it was so uplifting to see him and Connie at Sunday Mass. Jack was a patriotic example to people of all ages. Even in his later years as commander of the Dover American Legion we all learned from his wise counsel. It was a privilege in November 2020 to drive him to the recruiting stations in Canton and Dover to pick up gift items for Veteran's Day to give away to local residents at the Dover Buehler's. I could go on but there will be conspicuous emptiness in our community and at the American Legion Hall without Jack.
Peace to his family and friends and fellow veterans who he served with.
Heaven is a brighter place for his presence.

Mr Reese was my science teacher at Mineral City and a dedicated teacher. As I recall my dad’s Dachshound came from a litter Mr Reese had raised. Fond memories...

I was saddedned to hear about Jesse. I remember him from when I was in grade school at Park School in Dover in the 1960s and he was a teacher. Through the years, I would run into him often and he was such a good man, a proud and patriotic person and someone I always had a deep admiration for. My thoughts go out to John and Gary during this difficult time.
