John E. Surprise

Surprise, John E. BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. John E. Surprise, 90, of Grafton passed away on April 28, 2016, in Boynton Beach with his loving family by his side. Born on December 15, 1925, he was the son of the late Edward and Lela Surprise. John attended Troy High School before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1943. He proudly served during World War II and was honorably discharged on May 8, 1946. Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps, he worked for Behr-Manning until John joined Niagra Mohawk Power Corporation where he worked for 35 years until his retirement in 1981. John is survived by his wife Lois, to whom he was married for almost 67 years. He is also survived by his children, John Craig (Dorothy) Surprise, Karen S. (Woodrow) Maxwell and Arthur J. (Cathleen) Surprise. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister Rena M. Surprise.
