Daniel Bott Obituary

WATERVLIET Daniel J. Bott, 66, of Western Avenue, died Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady after a brief illness. Born in Troy, he was son of the late Clarence W. and Viola B. Wheeler Bott and husband of the late Helen Phyllis Skadra Bott. He was a lifelong resident of the Troy area and was a graduate of Troy High School. Mr. Bott was a supervisor at the Norton Company in Watervliet for 35 years, retiring in 1992. Dan was an enthusiastic fisherman and hunter. He was a great supporter of the Lupus Foundation and a constant volunteer at Hallmark Nursing Home in Troy. His humor and loving ways will long be remembered by his friends and family. He was a member of the Papermakers Union and served in the US Army in the military police stationed at Albuquerque, N.M. Survivors include his loving daughter, Diane E. Bott and her companion Ken Allen of Watervliet and two sisters, Marcia Moody (Ross) of Rotterdam and Ethel Wagar of Scotia. He was the proud grandfather of Samantha Elizabeth Allen and will be sorely missed by his constant companion, Gail Chmielinski of Schenectady. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service which will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. Susan H. Schultz, chaplain of the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, officiating. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Dan Bott to the Visiting Nurse Association of Albany, Inc., 35 Colvin Avenue, Albany, NY 12206 or the Lupus Foundation of America Inc., 1533 Central Avenue, Albany, NY 12205.
