Nicholas Teresi Obituary

LOUDONVILLE Nicholas P. Teresi M.D., 90, of Loudonville, beloved husband of Margaret Calhoun Teresi for 59 years, died Friday, January 30, 2004 at the Albany County Residential Health Care Facility. Dr. Teresi was born in Batavia, N.Y., the son of the late Charles and Nina Logacono Teresi. Dr. Teresi graduated from Hobart College and was also a graduate of Hahnmann Medical College in 1941. He was formerly associate physician in the department of medicine at the Lahey Clinic in Boston, Mass. Dr. Teresi practiced in industrial and occupational medicine in the Albany area from 1945 to 2003. Most recently being associated with the Riverfront Medical Services in Colonie. He was a consultant in medicine at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, N.Y., a member of the department of medicine at Albany Memorial Hospital and he was also a clinical assistant in medicine at Albany Medical Center. Dr. Teresi was a former associate examining physician for the workers' compensation board with the State of New York. He was a member and chairman of the workers' compensation committee of the Albany County Medical Society. He was a former member of the board of directors of The Workshop in Menands, N.Y., a former member of the board of directors of the Albany Y.M.C.A. Dr. Teresi was a medical examiner of the New York State Athletic Commission and was the team physician to USA-AAU Boxing team in Russia in 1970 and in the USA in 1971. Dr. Teresi was the former medical director for the Tobin Packing Co. in Albany and a former examining physician for the New York Central System. He was a communicant of Historic Church of St. Mary's in Albany. He was a longtime member of Wolfert's Roost Country Club where he was active with the R.O.B.'s. In addition to his wife, Dr. Teresi is survived by his loving children, Jean Scribner of Needham, Mass., Honorable Joseph Teresi and his wife Jerry of Delmar, Nicholas P. Teresi of Cohoes, Pamela Gandhi and her husband Dilip of Durham, N.C. and Mark Teresi and his wife Jeanne of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his two sisters, Nacy Piliterre of Batavia, N.Y. and Jeannette Telga of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dr. Teresi was predeceased by a brother, Joseph and a sister, Antoinette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. in Historic Church of St. Mary's on Capitol Hill, Lodge and Pine Streets in Albany. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call Monday from 3-7 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Dr. Teresi be made to Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110. The family wishes to give a special thanks to Dr. Fay, Dr. Bush and Dr. Hoensch and the staff at the Albany County Residential Health Care Facility Shaker Place Unit for the care and support given to Dr. Teresi and his family.
