Philip Rosenberger Obituary

Rosenberger
Beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many, Philip James Rosenberger, Jr. (Jim) passed away peacefully on August 27, 2020, in Jacksonville. He was born in Washington, DC in March 1941, and had one brother (Donald Lee Rosenberger). Jim grew up in Jacksonville and later graduated from Jacksonville University, where he participated in the crewing team. Jim served in the US Marine Corps Reserves for his national service. Jim's work career focused on sales, where he worked until his retirement. Jim married Ann and had two children. Although divorced when the children were young, Jim lived nearby, regularly enjoying weeknight dinners, weekends, holidays, and traveling with them.
Jim had a lifelong love of boats, fishing, and cars. He spent twenty-plus happy years involved as a member of The Captains Club, along with his father, Phil, and developed lifelong friends. Jim also volunteered for over 24 years at The Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, serving twenty-two years as the tournament's Head of Communications. He also fished in the tournament for many years.
Another passion in Jim's life was supporting the University of Florida Gators football team, whose home games he regularly attended with his Touchdown Club friends from 1982 onwards. Jim also supported his alma mater and attended his yearly JU Crew Reunions, taking his daughter and her girls with him as well.
Jim was also an avid reader and film watcher, particularly sci-fi and fantasy, which he shared with his children, nieces, and grand-daughters. Harry Potter was their favorite to enjoy with their Pop-Pop/Granddad/Uncle.
After retirement, Jim also traveled twice to Australia to visit his son's family, and was able to see his son play cricket. Not a fan of cold weather, Jim complained bitterly about the cold winter weather on the second trip during a visit to the Blue Mountains near Sydney, though he greatly enjoyed the Sydney Harbour cruise.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, brother and wife of twenty-two years, Pamela W. Rosenberger. He is survived by his daughter Margaret Lee Norcott (Atlantic Beach) and son Dr. Philip James (PJ) Rosenberger, III (Uta) of Australia and sister-in-law Judy Rosenberger (Houston, TX). He is also survived by his three grand-daughters and two nieces that he adored: Amelia Lee and Noella Sophia Norcott, Lina Margaret Rosenberger, and Melissa Lee and Darcy Lee Rosenberger.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 19 from 9-11 am at Flying Iguana Taqueria & Tequila Bar, located at 207 Atlantic Blvd, Neptune Beach, FL 32266.
Details for a graveside service will be posted at a later date on the Arlington Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, The Florida Times-Union, and Facebook.

I knew Phil from the Captains Club and the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament. He was very active in both and was known for his great voice at the Kingfish tournament. He loved the Jr. Angler tournament as he would talk to all the Jrs. on the radio for hours. He would answer all their questions to ensure every Child would remember that tournament. He is still missed by many who knew him.

It has been four years since you left us dad, four years Just before my birthday 2020 and it feels like yesterday. Picture of you on top of a stand in my closet alongside picture of mom and her husband Don, a church directory picture of PJ & I with mom around 4-6 years old along with pictures of my two girls approximately the same age as Philip and I are in that picture. I speak to you all daily - morning and night when I´m home. I wish you a wonderful day in heaven and ask that you all look down and shine your light upon all of us and keep us safe & happy most of all.

I miss you so much Dad! I love you always and forever -

Your daughter -
Margaret Lee

To my father ~
I am so thankful for the time we’ve had together on this earth and that you were my father. Well no person is a perfect person, I feel blessed by the things that you shared with me, taught me, helped me with not only as your daughter but as a person. I loved growing up and ultimately getting to know you more as an adult versus you were “young child. I’ve loved learning more about your life, and have learned even more about you since you’re passing. I have so many of the same interest from water related activities to the love of the Florida gators and sports/antique cars. I am truly my father’s daughter.

Your granddaughters, all three of them, along with my brother and I and many others will miss you so very much. I know you’re in a better place but it doesn’t take away that I will miss you physically being here.

My Dearest Sweet Maggie Lee

I was so saddened to hear this shocking news. About your amazing father.
I feel very blessed to have known him. The last time we share time together. He and I shared stories of Out on the Ocean he and I both have a love for the ocean. We talk about his love for beautiful fast cars. Thought I was so Envy of him. I've always wanted to own a Corvette. He was gracious enough to share his love for his fast Corvette of his with me.
He thanked me for helping him getting his latest beautiful Porsche of his. It was truly my pleasure in helping one of his dreams come true for him.

I do know that he simply adore you and you are beautiful girls of yours. For he often told me so. On multiple occasions one of the occasions that stands out for me is there in Harry Potter World I truly do not know who was having the better time your father or the girls that particular day.
I do know that I was having such a wonderful day being able to spend my day with you and your amazing father "Jim ".
Margaret my heart goes out to you at this time of grief. Please know that. You are forever in my heart my thoughts and my prayers
