Robert Wimbrow Phillips Jr.

PHILLIPS Robert Wimbrow Phillips, Jr., 54, died April 15, 2002, after battling pancreatic cancer. He was born in Berlin, MD., Jan. 7, 1948 where he returned in 1979 after living in Jacksonville Beach, marrying the former Pyllis Guerra and raising a family. Prior to 1979, he worked at The Beaches Leader and American Printing and Adv., Inc., was a member of Rotary International, the original Beaches Revitalization Committee, officer Beaches Quaterback club, Beaches Costal Monitor Emergency Radio Team and American Legion Post 129. He and his family were one of the founding families of Our Lady Star of the Sea and later St. Pauls Catholic Churches. From 1979 to 1997 Mr. Phillips and his family resided in Newark, MD. He was V. P. and Gen. Mgr. Of Pigman Oil Co., John Hanson, and later, First Shore Federal Savings Banks. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Guerra-Phillips, two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Angela, and Brad and Kimberly, and two grandchildren, Noah Austin and Emily Brooke. Honorary Pall Bearers will be: Brig. Gen. E. A. Hesse, Joseph Cinotti, Lawrence Rudd, Frank Jura, and Peter Layson, all of the Beaches area, R. B. Duke and Marion Baker of Maryland, and Larkin Fore of Kent. Mass and memorial service will be held in the chapel of Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 1701 Beach Blvd. Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 AM.
