Ronald W. Zeigler
Ronald W. Zeigler, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, of West Penn Township in Tamaqua, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Salisbury Township having waged a courageous battle against cancer. He was 58 years of age.
Born Thursday, April 4,, 1963, in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Earl and Beatrice (Hartung) Zeigler.
Ron was a graduate of Tama-
qua High School and a member of the Teamsters union for more than 25 years.
He drove truck and commercial vehicles for New Penn Motor Freight, and various other local companies before taking a job with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Mahoning Tunnel Operations, from which he had recently retired.
Ron served his country honorably during two enlistments. He began first with the United States Army Reserve from 1982 to 1988, then re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserve in 1999 serving through 2003.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
He took great pride in his 2006 Pontiac GTO and spent many weekends going to car shows, but he loved spending most of his time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Helene (Bensinger) Zeigler; daughters, Ashley E. Rodgers, wife of Thomas, of Tamaqua, Naomi Lee of Chula Vista, CA; brother, Larry Zeigler of Andreas; sisters, Joyce Knepper, wife of Robert, of Summit Hill, Doris Leiby, wife of Lamar, of New Ringgold, Barbara Stegmeier, wife of the late Robert, of Tamaqua; grandchildren, Lilly, Myra, Orynn, Sequoya, Onoko, Zechariah; niece, Shelly Heisler, wife of Todd; nephew, Bryan Miller and his wife, Sharon; and many other family members.
Ronald was also predeceased by a sister, Joan Miller.
Services: Private arrangements entrusted to the Robert S. Nester Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. of 2066 W. Penn Pike, New Ringgold. Interment will be in Overcomers Holiness Church Cemetery in Andreas.
