William Arthur

Bill Keller was born July 22, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio and lived his entire life in Toledo. Bill graduated from Libbey High School in 1942. Upon graduation, he enrolled in the University of Toledo but his college education was delayed due to his enlisted in the Army in June 1943. Bill was a member of the 179th Infantry, 45th Division Company C. He was part of the troops that liberated the prisoners of war at Dachau. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Bill resumed his studies at the University of Toledo and graduated with a B.S. degree in 1949. Bill spent his entire professional career at Libbey Owens Ford Company, starting in 1949 and retiring on January 1, 1985. At the time of his retirement, he was the Director of Standards, Cost and Budgeting.

Bill was active in the community. He was a long time member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, Maumee, Ohio where he taught Sunday School for many years. He was a member and past President of the Toledo Civil War Roundtable and was a Commander of American Legion Post No. 335. He was very active at Swan Creek Retirement Village serving on many committees, including the Executive Council and acted as its Treasurer.

He was an avid reader and historian and was a frequent lecturer on the topics of the Civil War, World War II and the Holocaust.

Bill is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Janet (Moll), and his two children, Susan Keller of Providence, Rhode Island and Gary Keller of Manitou Springs, Colorado.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 4, 2013, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 310 Elizabeth St., Maumee Ohio at 1:00 p.m.
