Michalina M. Gawle, 93, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2015, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio (Perrysburg). She was born on September 19, 1922, in the village of Brzyscie, Poland, to Stefan and Pelagia Salwierz. Michalina immigrated to the United States in 1946 after WWII, where she married Kazimer Gawle on January 27, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio.

Above all else, Michalina was devoted to God and her family. She was a devout member of St. Adalbert Parish, where she and her husband were married. She had a wonderful singing voice which was part of St. Adalbert's Polish choir for many years. Michalina made several religious pilgrimages, including travels to the Holy Land and the Vatican. She participated in numerous activities in the Polish Village/Lagrenka community, including the Polish Army Vets Ladies Auxiliary, and was a loyal member of the "pierogi-pinching team" whenever needed. She enjoyed cooking traditional Polish cuisine for the family, and had a remarkable "green thumb". Michalina retired from the Toledo Public School System in 1987.

Michalina is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years, Kazimer, and her four children, Joseph (Donna) Gawle, Edward (Mary Lena) Gawle, Mary Ann Gawle, and Janet Gawle. She also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Janina Krempa (Brzyscie, Poland), and was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Wojciech and Jan (also of Brzyscie, Poland).

Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a Scripture Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
