George Bobash Obituary

BOBASH George J. George J. Bobash, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2008, at Kingston Assisted Living of Perrysburg. George was born in Fairview, Ohio to Stephan and Helen Bobash on August 27, 1917. His family moved to Rossford when he was still young, and he was a 1935 graduate of Rossford High School. George entered the Army-Air Force during WW II. He attained Sergeant grade while serving as an airplane mechanic with the 444th Bomb Group in the Indo-China theater. After the war, George married Susan Klepacz on July 26, 1947, in St. Mary Magdeline Church, Rossford. She preceded him in death in 1999. He worked briefly for Libbey-Owens-Ford in Rossford, then was employed as a mechanic at Willys Overland Jeep (Daimler-Chrysler) in Toledo for over 40 years. He attended the University of Toledo to become a certified electrician during his employment with Jeep. George served one term as a Rossford City Council member in the 1960's. He was also a temporary U.S. mail carrier in the 1970's. After his retirement, he did interior painting for several years. He was a past member of American Legion Post 533 and the VFW in Rossford. George was an avid golfer throughout his life, often hitting the links with his brothers, Paul and Andrew. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, Rossford, and sang in the choir for many years. Preceding him in death were his wife, Susan; brothers, Stephen, John, Anthony, Frank, Paul and Andrew Bobash. Surviving are daughters, Mary (David) Trachl, Barbara Lafferty, and Lydia (Lawrence) Moore; son, Gerard Bobash; grandchildren, Chief Naval Officer Daniel Trachl, Dena (Max) Campos, Joseph Smith; and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Kingston, especially Robin in the Memory Care Unit and Sharon and the staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their excellent and friendly care. Friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd., on Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 2 to 8 p.m. where a Scripture Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday morning at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford beginning at 9 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Rev. Kent Kaufman will be presiding. Interment will follow at Ft. Meigs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to All Saints Catholic Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

It has been such a blessing the past two years to have had Uncle George back in my life. His warm smile and quick wit will remain with me. He touched many lives here at Kingston and certainly will be missed. How wonderful it has also been to have a renewed friendship with my cousins. My love and prayers always,
