William Adams Obituary

ADAMS William J. "Bill" William J. Adams, "Bill", 80, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2007, at The Laurels Assisted Living in Pineville, NC, surrounded by his loving family. He was formerly a resident of Rossford, Ohio. He was born on January 23, 1927, in east Toledo, raised by his grandparents, Barbara and John Adams. Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWll serving in the South Pacific and a member of VFW Post 4906 in Birmingham, Ohio. He worked at Mercer Industries and went on to work at the American Shipbuilding Co. for 27 years as a marine electrician. Bill was a talented watercolor artist, avid gardener, and devoted "Grandpa". He was a big fan of Rossford High School athletic teams. He enjoyed golfing, building model airplanes and traveling to spend time with his grandchildren and daughters. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Wilma Rose Chromik "Chopsie". Surviving are his daughters, Terri Otten and her husband, Bob of Charlotte, NC and Randy Adams of Kent, WA; grandchildren, Bobby and Bethany Otten of Charlotte, NC. He was an only child, but cousin, Mary Ann Novak was like a sister to Bill. His sister-in-laws were also very dear, Maggie Warchol, Rose (Stanley) Lisowski and Sis Chromik. He is survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Bill touched so many lives with his good humor and optimism and won the hearts of countless friends. He faced every day with a smile, despite a 40-year battle with diabetes. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the special caregivers from Hospice of Charlotte and the Laurels who treated Bill so kindly. Friends may visit at the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford, 830 Lime City Rd. on Monday, July 30, 2007, from 2 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford where the family will receive visitors beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Meigs Cemetery in Perrysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Steve Chromik and Chopsie Adams Rossford High School Memorial Music Scholarship Fund, 701 Superior St., Rossford, Ohio, 43460 or Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd, Perrysburg, OH 43551 or a charity of the donor's choice. E-mail condolences can be registered via The Toledo Blade.

I went to St. Stephen's Parochial School with Bill and had seen him at our 45th & 50th Class Reunions. We played on St. Stephen's first basketball team coached by Fr. Reineck. Bill was a great guy and easy in all his ways. Always enjoyed his company and am sorry we moved out of state & lost contact until the reunions. May God grant him peace.

Hello! I am writing on behalf of Veronica Pasztor (Pastor) Anistik. She is Billy's 1st cousin. Her mother was Ann Adam-Pastor from Genessee St. I missed this obit in the paper but Dorothy Jewel (Billy's 1st cousin and my 2nd cousin) told me about it. I told my mother today and she was saddened. Even tho she has had a stroke, she still understands very well what is said to her. My condolences. Please write if you have a chance.

Randy, Terry & family: I have very fond memories of growing up and the pool parties at the Adams' house. Bill and Chopsie were always so welcoming and liked to see us kids have fun. He always had a smile and a good word for everyone. You have our deepest sympathy on the loss of your father (and grandfather).
