Leon Whittington Obituary
Leon Whittington, 55, "Mr. Entertainer of Toledo, OH", passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, peacefully in his sleep in Rockford, IL. Leon attended Scott High School and graduated from Hollywood High in California. Shortly thereafter he began singing/acting professionally for over 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emory and Evelyne Whittington Sr.; brothers, Lawrence Whittington and Emory Whittington, Jr.; niece, Kimberly Allen-Reid.
He is remembered with love by his four sons, Jamail (Fakwanda) Plodzik of Toledo, OH, Leon (Nicole) Corbett of Victorville, CA, Antwon Clark and Kanardo (Tamia) Whittington of Toledo, OH; fifteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five sisters, Gwendolyn Allen, Jacquelyne (Mark) Rome, Deborah (James) Richardson, Cheryl Whittington and Nina Whittington; four brothers, Amory (Vickie) Whittington, Gordon (Deborah) Whittington, Kerry (Bridget) Whittington and Fred (Stephanie) Whittington; special sister-in-law, Joyce A. Whittington; 3 half-sisters; three aunts along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Dale-Riggs Funeral Home Chapel from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Family hour will be held Thursday at 12 Noon and funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. John E. Roberts pastor, Bishop Robert A. Culp will be officiant.

My heartfelt condolences to Fred, Stephanie and family of Leon Whittington. Leon was a great entertainer. I enjoyed hearing him sing with Harlan Jefferson at many venues in Rockford. Leon will truly be missed. I pray God will give you comfort and strength now and days ahead.
