Olga Ruiz

Olga Ruiz, age 68, passed away peacefully at her home on December 11, 2020 and was surrounded by her siblings as she began her journey to heaven. She was born April 19,1952 in Toledo, Ohio, and was an alumni of Libbey High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Antonio and Odilia Ruiz; nephew, Luis Ruiz; niece, Jennifer Carper; brother-in-laws Ralph Meyer and Charles (Chuck) Carper; and her beloved dog Dexter.

Olga had a love for plants and gardening; she spent many hours tending her beautiful flowers. Her family loved and looked forward to her special Mexican rice and beans at all family gatherings. She had perfected making them and they tasted just like her mom's. Olga was an avid movie-goer and frequently saw movies with her boyfriend of many years, Faron Garvey. They also enjoyed taking trips together. Faron lovingly helped to care for Olga in her time of need.

For many years Olga worked at Heinz Research in Haskins, Ohio, and later at the Epilepsy Center where she met lifelong friends, Karen Diaz and Mary Jo Zeisloft. At the Epilepsy Center she was loved by all clients and staff. She had a gift for caring for people and was always thinking about how to help others.

Olga will be greatly missed by her many nieces and nephews. They fondly called her "Auntie O" or "Aunt Olg," she was like a second mom to them. They enjoyed the way she would let them do things their parents wouldn't and they giggled when she encouraged them and joined in doing mischievous things. Most missed will be how she rubbed their backs. She truly loved them all, Jamey Ruiz, Brandon Ruiz, Brandi Meyer, Michael Meyer, Jason Ruiz, Christie (Ruiz) St. John, Erik Ruiz, Ryan Ruiz, Kandyce (Ruiz) Queenan, Melissa Carper, Stephen Carper, Robert Ruiz-Krause, Elena (Ruiz-Krause) King, Antonio Ruiz-Krause, Veronica Ruiz-Krause (Mulvey), Justice Ruiz, Connor Ruiz Bringman, Kennedy Ruiz Bringman.

Olga is survived by her sisters, Maria Meyer, Diana Ruiz-Krause (Robert), Linda Ruiz-Bringman (Chadwick), and Guadalupe Carper; brothers, Antonio Ruiz (Hope), Gilberto Ruiz (Linda), Augustine Ruiz (Melanie), Juan Ruiz (Sherry), Roberto Ruiz. and her Tia Socorro; and cousins. Olga was tenderly cared for by her family during her illness. Olga was loved deeply by her siblings, she was their sister and friend. She will be fondly remembered for her outspokenness, calling loved ones to sing Happy Birthday to them, and the way she made them laugh.

We now celebrate her life.
