Joseph Allen "Joey" Stillwell Jr., 42, of Crafton, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, while visiting family in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Joey was born Sept. 29, 1969, in Newport News, Va. He was a 1987 graduate of Bethel High School. At the age of 17, he moved to Pittsburgh to attend the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. He spent his entire adult life in Pittsburgh. Joey loved spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and hiking with his many friends and dog, Geronimo. He was passionate about his job at Emmaus Community Pittsburgh, his art work, his Native American heritage, but most of all, spending time with his family and friends. He was a very kind-hearted person that enjoyed nothing more than life itself. He had touched many lives and will truly be missed by all that were blessed to know him. Those who are left to cherish his memory are his parents, Joseph Allen Stillwell Sr. and his wife, Lily, of Hampton, and Sandy Overby and her husband, Cliff, of Isle of Wight County; his loving wife, Kelly O'Connell Stillwell; two daughters, Sara and Trinity; a son, Logan; sister, Cindy Stillwell Matheson and her husband, Ed, of Poquoson; brothers, Cliff Overby and wife, Jillian, of Portsmouth, and Stacy Overby and his wife, Jennifer, of Isle of Wight County; mother-in-law, Arlene O'Connell, of Pittsburgh; brother-in-law, Kevin O'Connell and his wife, Christy, of Pittsburgh; grandmothers, Helen Skillins and her husband, Malcolm, of Newport News, and Elizabeth Stillwell, of Lutz, Fla., and Mary Jean O'Connell, of Green Tree; a host of family and friends; and last but not least, his dog, Geronimo. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Thomas Jefferson Stillwell, Marshall Smith and Bob Mansfield. Friends are welcome from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Philip Church, 50 W. Crafton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
