John Nusida

John Nusida 91, of Bedford, formerly of Finleyville, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in UPMC Bedford Hospital, Everett. He was born Sept. 2, 1915, in Crucible, a son of the late John and Mary Reese Nusida. He was retired from the Mathies Coal Company with 40 years of employment. Mr. Nusida was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Monongahela. He was a machine gunner in the U.S. Army, serving with the 118th Infantry Regiment during World War II. Mr., Nusida was a member and past Commander of the Carroll American Legion, James C. Ford Post 949 of Dunkirk and the VFW of Pleasantville. He is survived by his wife, Marguretta Gibson Nusida, of Bedford; son, John Nusida and wife Bernadette, of Pittsburgh; daughter, Jill Kovacic and husband George, of Rutherfordton, N.C.; three grandchildren, Nicole Torres, and Mike and Brian Nusida; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Sara Nusida; brother, Bill Nusida, of Monongahela; and sister, Lilly Kennedy, of Ft. Pierce, Fla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Ammon A. Kovacic; and three sisters, Priscilla Sutty, Dee Bedroe and Isabelle Nusida. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1 p.m. in the L.M. FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, until the time of the Memorial Service at 1:30 with George Kovacic and Bob Nicklow Jr., ministers of the Church of Jesus Christ.
