William Nusida

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, for William Nusida, 95, of Monongahela, who passed away Friday, Feb. 13. Born Oct. 10, 1913, in Vesta Five, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Reese) Nusida. For 55 years, Mr. Nusida worked as a coal miner at the former Mathies Mine Co., retiring in 1974. He was a member of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Monongahela. Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, John J. Nusida Sr., and William and Allene Nusida, all of Monongahela; one sister, Lilly Kennedy, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; one grandson, John J. Nusida Jr. and wife Denise; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Christy Nusida; eight great-grandchildren, Jason and Daniel Nusida, Anthony and Michael Dimatteo, Levi, Makenzie, Michael and Bria. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Nusida, in April 1991; one brother, John Nusida; and three sisters, Priscilla Sutty, Dee Bedroe and Isabella Nusida. Interment was in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, Monongahela, was in charge of the arrangements.
