Harley Hunt Obituary

HARLEY DON HUNT Born in Boise, Idaho on February 19, 1940 to Don and Wynnie Hunt. He graduated from Stadium High in Tacoma, Linfield College in Oregon and the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley. Harley married Karin (Poggi) on June 13, 1964. They have two sons: Dave (living in OR with wife Tonia and children Andrew and Emily) and Tim (living in PA with daughter Krystal). Harley served five American Baptist congregations in WA, UT and OR during his 37 years of pastoral ministry, including 9 years as Executive Director of the Ministers Council in Valley Forge, PA. Throughout his life, he was active in church and community, serving on regional and national boards. He retired as pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Tacoma, in February, 2004. Harley died on Oct. 17, 2004, after an extended illness. A celebration of his life will be held on Sat., Oct. 23, 1:00 p.m., at Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N. Vassault, Tacoma. Gifts may be directed to Grace Baptist Memorial Fund.

What a sad loss. I valued Harley as a friend and colleague in ministry and want the family to know that his contribution to ABC, its churches and Minister's Council will long be remembered. The memories are too long to list, but I know that his spirit lives in through his family, and the people whose lives he touched.
