It was a joy to work closely with Merle as co-workers at Lincoln. Merle was a teacher in the Business Education Department and he had unique way of developing relationships with students and staff.
As the Principal of Lincoln, I enjoyed our many conversations about sports because our mutual love for sports and we both had sons who participated in sports.
Merle`s son, Doug, broke my heart and the hearts of many Lincoln fans when the Puyallup Vikings defeated Lincoln in a game at UPS in 1971. The game was basketball and Doug and the Vikings defeated Lincoln and advanced to the State Tournament and defeated Pasco for the State Championship
Merle was generous in sharing the food from his farm with staff members and families. My daughter always was excited when it was the season to visit the farm and home of Mr. Weese.
The highlight of my relationship with Merle came when I was going on a trip to Phoenix, Arizona. Merle~s mother was living in Phoenix and I was honored to meet and visit with her.
Rest in Peace Merle and thank you for the many students you taught in Business Education as well as Drivers
Education.
Thank you and Jeanne for Doug and Marvin
