Miler Magrath Obituary

Miler Gloor Magrath
March 4, 1955 - June 17, 2017
Resident of Alamo
Miler Magrath, a beloved husband, father and Lafayette businessman for over 40 years as co-owner of Diamond K Supply, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2017 following complications of a stroke.
Miler was born in Oakland on March 4, 1955, grew up in Lafayette, and graduated from Acalanes High School and California State University, Chico. He married Maureen McFadden in Santa Rosa and Miler and Maureen's family grew with the addition of their beloved daughters Molly and Mackenzie. Miler also devoted his life to the success of the Magrath family business, Diamond K Supply, becoming President in 1990.
Miler had a great love of his family and many friends. He was an avid duck hunter, golfer and member of Contra Costa Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, Lake Tahoe, the 49ers, gardening, and traveling with his family and friends. He was a friend to many and will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing Miler. Miler's life will be honored at a Celebration of Life ceremony at a date to be set in the future.
We encourage all those who loved him to come visit Diamond K in Lafayette to share their memories with our family and Miler's fellow employees.
Miler is survived by his loving wife, Maureen; their beautiful daughters, Molly and Mackenzie; his faithful dog Maisy; sister, Anne Magrath Coleman; brother, Bill Magrath; father-in-law, Dr. James McFadden; and many beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nephews, and in-laws. He is predeceased by his parents, Bill and Nancy Magrath, and mother-in-law, Pat McFadden.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice.
Miler's welcoming presence will be sorely missed by his family, friends, coworkers and customers. We love you, and we will miss you deeply Miler.

I just learned of Miler´s passing, and I extend my belated condolences to his loved ones. Though we were never "bosom buddies," I knew Miler since Little League and-both being adventurous souls-shared some rather interesting experiences throughout the years. We played a lot of golf at Chico and lived together at "Animal House" during our final semester. He was a great guy and was often the "life of the party," especially when he did his Karnak the Magnificent routine. He passed away too soon. I´m so sorry for your loss.

I was saddened to have discovered this when I went to search the whereabouts on some former classmates. Miler was a good pal in Middle School and into high school at Acalanes until I relocated to De La Salle early in our sophomore year. He was an always cheerful, good guy. Everyone liked him a lot and I'm sure he had a great life full of friends and family. I'd often thought to maybe drop in on him at work some day to see how he was doing, but that won't be necessary now, of course. I'm hoping that he knew his Creator and is with Him in heaven as I write this. I'm really pretty sad to have read this today but was happy that he had such a large and loving family who will never forget this memorable man. Godspeed Miler. See you again one of these days soon enough.

So sorry for Maureen and the girls. I had the pleasure of golfing with him at a Golf Tournament to benefit Boys and Girls Club of Mt. Diablo. He was the funny guy in our foursome.
His sense of humour and calm demeanour will be missed by many.

MY brother Donald Light is a friend and former classmate and just informed me of Miler's passing. I just saw my brother this past weekend as he traveled from Richmond,VA to be with our father on Father's Day.
I remember buying sand bags @ the store and talking with Miller when he was at the cash register.Miler was a All around Nice Guy.

I am sorry for your loss.

Maureen, I was so sorry to hear of this great loss for you and your girls. My thoughts and prayers will be with you all in upcoming days, weeks and months. Time is the great healer, thanks to God, and I pray blessings on you as you travel the time needed for some healing. The pain never goes away, I know, but time does soften the sharp edges. Know you are in God's care, as is your beloved husband.

It has truly been a sad week, a great man and a great family. Yesterday at CCCC the Flag was flying lower than it should have been. Numerous individuals adorned Giants gear in his honor, the beverage of choice was Coors. He will be dearly missed by more than he ever thought possible.

God Bless
