Mr. Angelo Decensi, Jr., 82, formerly of 1 Tracie Ave. Adams, died early Saturday morning, April 2, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was born in Adams on February 10, 1929, son of the late Angelo and Mary (Bartini) Decensi. He was educated in Adams schools and graduated from the former Adams High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Military Police Captain with the United States Army from 1951 until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. Mr. Decensi worked as a production supervisor in the Power Transformer division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield , until retiring in 1987 with 37 years of service. He was a member of the Adams Finance Committee for over 15 years, and was active with many town committees. He had been a communicant of the former Parish of Notre Dame & St. Thomas Aquinas, Adams, where he served as an usher and volunteer for many years. He was a member of Adams Post 160 American Legion, where he served as Commander for numerous terms, and was an active member of its Honor Guard. He was also a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioner's clubs. He enjoyed watching high school football, hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and his two grandchildren. Angelo's children will remember their Dad as a friend and loving father who always sacrificed on their behalf. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend, the former Roberta M. Porrini, on February 4, 2004. He is survived by 2 sons, Peter A. Decensi and his wife, Trish, of Hinckley, Ohio; and Robert J. Decensi and his wife, Diane, of Guilford, Connecticut; 2 Grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan Decensi of Guilford, CT; a sister, Lena Bobowiec and her husband, Louis, of Ocala, FL.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 6th, at 9:00 AM from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in the Parish Church of Pope John Paul the Great, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor. Burial will follow in the family lot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire or to the Parish of Pope John Paul the Great through the funeral home.
