Anthony Piecenski Obituary

Published by Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Eastside on Jul. 26, 2012.
Anthony A Piecenski "Tony" age 92 passed peacefully Thursday evening, July 26, 2012 with Hospice at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. Tony was born May 7, 1920 to Joseph and Mary Piecenski. He was preceded in death by his parents, long time companion Linda Bockey, Brothers: Walter, Joseph, and John. Sisters: Estelle Britton and Sophie Kawat. Tony graduated from Orwell High School in Ashtabula County in 1939 and then joined the US Civil Conservation Corp. He then served his country in the US Army in World War II as an MP. Tony then moved to Columbus, Ohio and worked for the Central Ohio Transportation Association for 40 years until he retired in 1987. Tony also owned and operated his own roofing and painting company. After retirement, Tony became bored and said "you can only golf and fish so much." While we tried to convince him he was wrong, his Polish stubbornness that we all loved, always won over any argument. Tony then purchased a landscaping company, T&L Lawn care and he was still mowing until he was 86. Tony loved the outdoors, golfing, fishing, boating and spending time with his family. Tony spent winters in Sarasota, Florida and returned to Ohio in the summer to their home at Lake Choctaw in London, Oh. Tony is survived by his son Tom Piecenski (Shelly) Columbus and his daughter Linda Sue Beach (Damian) Frankfort, Kentucky, his brother, Jacob of Orwell, Ohio, Grandchildren: Ben and Abby Piecenski, Columbus, Bill Heckleman and Belinda Younger both of Frankfort, Kentucky. Great-grandsons: Urijah Heckleman and George Younger, Many nieces, nephews, and good friends. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date to be announced. Please indicate if you wish to be contacted with details about the service by signing the guest book on-line at Chiles-Laman Funeral Home. (www.chiles-lamanfh.com) In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Tony's name to Hospice Care at St. Rita's Hospital 730 W. Market Street, Lima, Ohio 45801
