IRON MOUNTAIN - Celia "Pat" Richtig, 86, of 429 Blaine St. in Iron Mountain, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Hyland Nursing Home in Iron Mountain. She was born in Bradley, Wis., on Oct. 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Amasa D. and Sara E. (Sweeny) Clements. Celia married Valentine Richtig on Feb. 18, 1941. Celia enjoyed many family gatherings. Cooking, baking, preparing wild game and canning fruits and vegetables were a few of her favorite hobbies. Her family owes all of their good health to her fine culinary abilities. Celia also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and going on several senior citizens bus tours. She looked forward to her Friday nights when she would go out for her weekly fish fry with her friends. Oftentimes, she and her friends would frequent local restaurants for a hot mug of coffee and some good conversation. She was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church, sang in the choir, and for many years, participated in a Bible study group with her friends. She is survived by one sister, Grace "Ham" Frawley of Knoxville, Tenn.; four sons, Gary (Jeannine) Richtig of Spread Eagle, Wis., John (Joanie) Richtig of Iron Mountain, Dave (Chris) Richtig of Aurora, Wis. and James (Lisa) Richtig of Kingsford; three daughters, Rena Richtig of Vulcan, Marie (Donald) Gerred of Janesville, Wis. and Pamela (Rev. William) Hohman of Merrill, Wis; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Proceeding her in death on March 30, 2007, was her husband, Valentine; a son, Dennis Richtig and a daughter, Brenda Yuhasey; an infant sister, Helen, three brothers, Walter "Bill," Francis "Bud" and John; six sisters, Geneva "Hon" Schultz, Mary Pressmess, Della Dahlan, Norma "Toots" Westergen, Ethel "Essie" Gustafson and Edna "Syker" Frawley. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited starting at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church with Msgr. James Kaczmarek officiating. Burial will be at Cemetery Park. Pallbearers will be Celia's four sons and two grandsons.
