Christina Conta Obituary

Published by Greenwich Village Funeral Home on Apr. 5, 2019.
It is with deep, profound regret that we announce the passing of Christina Conta over this past weekend. Christina Conta spent her entire life in New York City, since her birth on April 11th, 1950. Growing up in the heart of Chelsea, she established deep roots as she lived on the same street for all her days. She married her childhood boyfriend, Edward Conta, on June 12th, 1976. Over the course of 42 years together with Edward, she gave birth to and raised two loving, caring children, Jennifer Conta and Anthony Conta. Family was an important aspect of Christina's life, both personally and professionally. After graduating from Columbia University, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse helping bring life into this world. After the birth of her own children, she transitioned to school nursing at Friends Seminary for over 20 years, building awareness and acceptance around mental and physical health. Christina was an expert in medicine, well-being, and above all, healing. Her approach to health was both physical and mental, creating a space for those in need, no questions asked, no judgement held. More than just an administrator or teacher, she was a friend whose office was always open, even during times when she herself needed the healing and rest. Christina excelled a fostering a loving community, both at home and at work. She had infinite room in her heart, and to her, everyone was a part of her family. She was, and will always be, loved by the family she created, fostered, and nurtured. Please join her family in remembering her at The Greenwich Village Funeral Home on Friday, April 12th, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM and from 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM.
