Comella Gatanis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 16, 2012.
"Middie" was a loving mother of eight children; Kathryn, Nicholis Jr., Robert, Elizabeth, Paul, Helen, Donald and Douglas. She leaves with us twelve grand children and eight great grand children. "Middie" was born in Immokalee, Florida and her family moved to Miami when she was thirteen years old. She attended Miami Senior High School and was voted tp student council for two years, before graduating in 1948. She married Nicholis Gatanis on December 17, 1949. They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in 2011. She became an exceptionally talented seamstress, sewing dresses for her three girls, even making shirts for the four boys all in their young years. She also worked at the First National Bank in Miami. After her family moved to Tampa in February, 1974, they became members of Temple Terrace United Methodist Church. "Middie" continued her zeal at organizing monthly 'Bunco' parties for many ladies in the area
