I met Brett a year ago. My son Brett was going thru a difficult time and Brett was kind. Our boys met up several weeks ago and were going to NA meetings. Last week I asked my Brett how your Brett's leg was healing and Brett's phone rang and it was your Brett. That was Thursday evening and they were making plans to go fishing. We are sorry for your loss. His passing has hit pretty close to home. Brett thinks about Brett often. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. Becky Lyons

Very shocked and saddened to learn the news this morning and sorry I could not be at the funeral to support you. It is said that no parent should have to bury their child and I certainly believe it to be the ultimate test. I haven't seen either of you in a while but love both of you as much as ever. I am so heartbroken to hear this. I grew up with Brett for 7 years through prompt succor to Menard. Within those 7 years, all of the class of 2001 became friends, more like a small community of friends, a family. Brett was a friend to all including myself. He was infectious. The life to any room he was in. I have such fond memories of him. Whether it be in classrooms, games, or parties, he was such a joy to be around. I always enjoyed his company, his joking remarks, his friendly hugs, and infectious smile. He was genuinely a friend to all. He stole a piece of my heart and I'm forever grateful for have known him for those years. He will definitely be missed, but he will never be forgotten. Prayers and love to his family. RIP Brett. I will miss you.
