Daniel S. Shivy

HOPE MILLS, N.C. - Daniel Scott Shivy, 21, of 6921 County Place Dr., Hope Mills, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, N.C. He was born on March 12, 1987, in a U.S. Army Medical Center in Nuernberg, Bavaria, Germany. Daniel is a 2005 graduate of Grays Creek High School and he earned a welding diploma in 2007 from Fayetteville Technical Community College. Daniel enjoyed social gatherings, paintball, drag racing, four wheeling, video games, and watching movies. He also enjoyed trips up north to Iron Mountain-Kingsford, which his family refers to as home. Here he had a chance to snowmobile, go to camp, snowboard, fish, and meet new people. Daniel was a sweet young man who had a beautiful smile and a helpful hand for those that needed it most. His smile, contagious laugh and playful but caring personality will forever be missed by the hearts that his short life has touched. He is survived by his parents, Randal (SFC Retired) and Barbara Shivy of Hope Mills; two sisters, Christine Shivy of Hope Mills, and Amy Rock of DePere, Wis.; two nephews, Gavin Rock and Julian Shivy; grandmom, Geraldine Pirlot of Kingsford; three uncles, Arthur Shivy of Reno, Nev., Keith (Pauline) Pirlot of Kingsford, Kevin Pirlot of Iron Mountain; two aunts, Vickie (Joe) VanLaanen of Kingsford, Lorna (Randy) Dahlke of Redmond, Ore., and 11 very dear cousins. Visitation will b held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to12 noon at the Erickson-Rochon and Nash Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 12 noon at the funeral home. Rev. James Chinery will officiate.
