Edwardo "Edwin" Cumba

Edwardo Cumba "Edwin", of Philadelphia, passed away on Sunday evening, March 14, 2021 at his residence with his family by his side. He was 59 years old. Edwin was born on September 4, 1961 to the late Pedro Juan Cumba and Cruz Maria Cumba in Philadelphia. Edwin is predeceased by his beloved brother Hector Cumba and nephew Pedro Cumba "Petey". He is survived by his brothers Pedro Cumba, Jr. and Robert Gonzales; his loving nephews Pedro E Cumba "Elliott" (Karen), Pedro Juan Cumba "PJ" (Crystal) Victor Cumba "Booboo" (Sely) Hector Cumba and Joselito Cruz; nieces Jessica Zeno, Melanie Cumba and Angelis Cumba. He also had 27 great nieces and nephews. Edwin was born with special needs and was loved and cared for by his mother until her passing. He was very special to his family. Eddy Spaghetti is what the family would call him. As soon as you would walk into the room he would say "Hey spaghetti" He enjoyed having visits from family members and looked forward to the treats they would bring for him. His favorites were donuts, French fries, and Cheerios with coffee. His famous line was "do you want a donut." As a child he liked to roller skate and play in his pool in the yard. He also enjoyed sitting in his chair and watching the TV with his mom. When Edwin's mother was unable to give him the care he needed, his family was able to step in. The last few years of his life he spent living with his loving nephew Elliott and his family. He had a special bond with them and loved to joke around with his great nephews Elliott, Jr. and Alex. Relatives and friends are invited to Edwin's Life Celebration on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the Geitner-Givnish Life Celebration Home, 6230 N. 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19120 and to his funeral mass on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the church of St. Helena, 6161 N. 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19120 (there will be no calling hours on Saturday and please arrive at the church at 9:15 a.m. to be seated for mass in the lower church.) Interment will follow at New Cathedral Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Edwin may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
