Eppie Pioquinto Obituary

Published by Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills on Dec. 28, 2017.
Eppie de Los Reyes Pioquinto was born May 23, 1942 in Pasay City, Manila, Philippines to Mr. Anselmo de Los Reyes and Mrs. Ceferina Flores. She was the second child of 5 children. One older sister who passed away at a younger age and three younger brothers, Pedi, Conrad and George. Growing up Eppie was domesticated and raise to do so but she wanted more out of life. Behind her father, she attended school and advanced herself through out school until she achieved a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from the University of the East and became a Board Certified Accountant in 1965. Eppie immigrated to America to achieve the American dream in the mid 1970's where she became a financial planner for Litton Aeroproducts which was later assumed by Northrop Grumman where she would continue her career "financing freedom" as she would say until her retirement in 2010. When she came to America she was shy and timid, she had some friends here and while she was hanging out with friends, that's when she met Fermin Pioquinto, Jr. She will tell you they were friends and he may tell you something different. Eppie would say, "I didn't even know we were dating and at one point I didn't know were engaged." But they ended up marrying in July 12, 1980 where they ended up living their days in Los Angeles and moving into the San Fernando Valley where they would grow a family. Eppie ended up with three boys: Christopher, Michael, and Matthew. Eppie and Fermin sacrificed money and leisure to provide for their children, enabling them to attend Catholic School at St. Mel School and later onto Crespi Carmelite High School. Later down the road, it wasn't known that Eppie took a second mortgage on her home to make sure her children finished their education all the while working tirelessly for 30 years 9-11 hours a day, 5 days a week. Yet she was able to still attend t-ball games on weekends, go camping during summers, and enjoy a Laker or Dodger game. Some may say, your mom is a workaholic, but it showed her sons good work ethic and how to succeed. Throughout life, she devoted her life to God. She was raised a catholic and went to church regularly. She found that her faith will lead her in the right path. She served the Lord by being kind to other, making friends with everyone she met and making other fall in love with her infectious smile. The day she came to West Hills Hospital, she found out that she was diagnosed with lymphoma, with her son by her side, crying as the doctor broke the news, she said, "Chris, stop crying, don't cry for me, it's in God's hands, if it his will, then I will follow." All she asked while she was in the hospital was for everyone to pray and it helped. God took her weak and tired body and let her eternally rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2017 at 6:08 pm surrounded by her family and friends. Eppie is survived by her husband, Fermin Pioquinto, Jr., her three sons: Christopher, Michael, and Matthew, along with her daughter in law Gizzelle Quidayan-Pioquinto, and three granddaughters: Ava, Olivia and Hannah. Her legacy lives on with her family.

To a wonderful woman who was kind and always in good spirits, thank you for always welcoming me into your home and treating me like family right from the start. You've left a great legacy behind and it shines through your three sons. I'm glad I had the pleasure of meeting you and having you in my life. We will miss you. We love you... until we meet again.

Will never forget Tita Eppie's kindness and thoughtful gesture especially to my mom, Norma. I will miss her genuine concern. RIP Tita Eppie and I know that you are in a much safer place, back in the arms of our heavenly father. Please say "hi" to mom and Tito Mag; there will be lots of story telling and catching upfor sure. If it isn't much to ask, pls continue watching over us. Marge, Edwin & Art
