Fred Odell Abbott, Sr. 85 of New Castle went to be with the Lord, Friday, October 19, 2012. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a self-employed contractor and an avid sportsman. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors and on his beloved mountain. He was preceded in death by his loving companion Ruth Pursley; an infant son; son Fred Odell Abbott, Jr.; parents Ellis and Letha Abbott; 4 brothers Layton, Herbert, Jerry, and Preston Abbott; and granddaughter Kristen Michelle Schrader. He is survived by daughter Brenda Abbott; daughter and son-in-law Patricia Schrader and husband Donald; grandchildren Dean Abbott (Dana), Heather Lilley (Michael), Leslie Loving (Jason), Michael Schrader (Miranda), Kathy Schrader, Kelly Jo Tappan (Jimmer); great-grandchildren Gage Abbott, Taylor Loving, Ava and Megan Schrader, Rielly, Kaeli, and Luke Tappan; sister Claudette Brizendine; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Jeff, Katie and Layton Huffman and Vivian Wertz. A special thanks to his caretakers Mary Ann, Angie, Sandy, and Missy. Graveside Services will be held 1:00 PM Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Brickey Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Paitsel Funeral Home. www.paitselfh.com
