I worked with George for several years at Shaw's. In my eyes he was a great man. He was humble and always willing to help make someone else's life a bit better then when he first met you. He made me a birdhouse several years ago that is still in use in my yard. My guess is there are many more sprinkled throughout the surrounding communities. He will be missed.

Doug and Family ,
I'm sorry to hear of George's passing.
I knew George from the time I was very young. He worked next door to my parents home on Country Club Rd. #3.
One specific memory I have from that time, I think I was 5-7 years old, was getting my foot caught under the elevator in the big chicken barn. Why a couple of 5 year-old's were playing with a freight elevator , I can't say.
But I was stuck and probably screaming like a school girl, I'm sure more scared than hurt. George came running, pulled the rope for "UP" and I was freed. He then picked me up and carried me on foot across the field and delivered me to my mother.
What I can remember of George was his low, soft manner of speaking. He didn't give us hell, or get excited at all.
He just handled it.
With some of the trouble that Doug and I got into in our teens, it's a wonder he had any patience left at all!
Rest in peace George.- Jason Watson
