George DeHague Obituary

George R. DeHague, beloved Spouse, Father, and Grandfather, 92, of Burlington, died at 6:50 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington surrounded by his family. Born February 11, 1921, in Burlington, he was the son of Clarence O. and Pearl B. Graham DeHague. On October 30, 1942, he married Eileen D. Seiberling in St. Patrick, MO. George graduated from Burlington High School. He served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Force as crew chief on the B-17 bombers in England. He was a retired machinist with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He worked at the West Burlington Shops from 1961 - 1973, as General Chairman, IAM-Chicago Area from 1973-1984, as Railroad Coordinator, Washington, D.C., retiring in 1984. He was a member of Machinist Local 531, T.P.A., F.O.E., Railroad Pensioner Club, and Blawkhawk Hunting Club. Hobbies included hunting, fishing, and golfing. Survivors include his wife, Eileen; one son, James (Sandra) DeHague of Coos Bay, OR; three daughters, Diane (Gene) Norton of Burlington, Debra (Greg) Collins of Davenport, and Nancy (Fred) Klesner of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jack DeHague and one sister, Betty Underwood. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, August 2, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mr. DeHague will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 3, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Father David G. Steinle officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery with full military honors rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been made for Great River Hospice House, and SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington.
